Bunco 2017 is in the bag! Because it was just a few days before the 4th, I did a July 4th Barbeque theme. Easy peasy!

I used mostly a red and white color scheme, with a touch of blue. I’d been planning this in my head for a couple of years, so it was easy to throw together. Really the only thing I had to purchase was the flowers, the food and to finish off the prizes. Everything else I’d been collecting.
This Coke crate was my favorite. I searched a while before finding one that was the right price and color, but I’m glad I didn’t give up. It held all the condiments for the pulled pork sandwiches, including my own Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce.
The 5 prizes and what caused me the most stress (as usual). I always second guess myself on the prizes because everyone has such different tastes. I LOVE wooden boxes, so I’d been collecting these wooden boxes to use as prizes. After I had 5 of them to use (my granddaughter confiscated one), I started worrying that I’d used some wooden boxes in the past as prizes, too. Soooo, I decided that I needed to add some things to the boxes to give some ideas of how they could be used. (The one on the front right contains 4 jars of candy.) They are truly very versatile. I even used one this past Christmas on my table filled with candles, red and gold balls and holly.
I try to send everyone home with something, so everyone got to take home a bag of Patriotic Popcorn. It wasn’t something that I cared for, but the little girls across the street loved it. You can get the recipe HERE.
For food, we had traditional barbeque food: pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, corn on the cob, baked beans and stuffed eggs. For dessert, I served something I knew would be a hit; Oreo Cake. No pictures of the food. I should have taken a photo of that Oreo Cake though. It was beautiful! BUT, it’s the same Oreo Cake that I did a post on back in April that was soooo good! So you can see it there and even get the recipe! And it has been confirmed by the Bunco bunch … that cake is AWESOME!!
And lastly, the porch. Oh my gosh, that wreath! Looks simple right?!? Wrong! Did you know that you’re not supposed to use a real flag for decoration? Yeah, so I bought fabric to create the illusion of a flag. Then I could not find a heart shaped wreath ANYWHERE!!! So I found a tutorial on youtube on how to make them. I ruined a perfectly good wreath trying that! I FINALLY found this wreath online and had to make some major modifications to it after I had to call the company to make sure it would arrive on time (after paying WAY TOO MUCH for both the wreath and 2 day shipping which took a week and a half … yeah!) So I’m going to try never to do that again.
That’s it till next year! And, yes, I already have an idea. 😉
Wow! Everything looked awesome! You have such a special touch as a hostess!
Thanks, Michelle. It’s something I enjoy doing.
