Created to be used along with The Grouchy Ladybug or a Ladybug Unit, but great for a Spring Unit as well. (links below) It reinforces the student’s ability to create new short vowel words using onset and rime. (all 5 vowels included) Printables include those to create 15 different ladybugs, a student response sheet, directions and ideas for extension activities. Great for stations/centers or individual use. Can be used with whole class if students work in pairs.
Rimes include: at, an , ap, ed, eg, eb, ig, it, id, ot, op, ug, ub, un

Ladybug Snack: This was a last minute idea that I came up with. Turn a fudge striped cookie upside down and ice with red frosting. Add a small chocolate cookie for the head. (I used 100 Calorie Snack cookie) Then add 5 chocolate chips and eat! You can add 2 red eyes with the frosting if you’d like. This one was done by Dakota when she was 3.
When I used it in my classroom, I used this printable to help with the directions and then as a sequencing activity. Great for following directions. For sequencing have students sequence pictures onto a piece of paper. More advanced students can write their own directions.
