Shrimp Tacos … just the name sounds delicious! There’s not much you can do with a shrimp that isn’t! So when I saw a recipe for Shrimp Tacos on Pinterest I knew I had to give it a try .. especially since we have a freezer full of shrimp. And the fact that this actually looks good for you is even better. So I give you, Delicious Shrimp Tacos!
My husband loves shrimp, too, but he said there was no way he was eating a shrimp taco. 🙂 So I made these one night while he was gone to the football game. Then after he saw this photo he said, “Hmmm, that looks pretty good.” And they were very good.
Of course I did not follow the original recipe because it called for mango and red cabbage and some other stuff that I don’t like. So I modified it and used stuff that I do like. Here’s the original recipe and below is what I did.
Delicious Shrimp Tacos
Olive Oil
Fresh peeled shrimp
Chili powder
Paula Deen’s Silly Salt
Sauce
1 C Sour Cream
Cilantro
2 T lime juice
1 1/2 t honey
1/4 C green salsa
mixed lettuce
fresh pineapple chopped
chopped green onions
soft shell tacos
Cover the bottom of a skillet with olive oil and cook shrimp until almost done. Sprinkle chili powder and salt on shrimp to taste and finish cooking. Set aside to cool. Mix ingredients for sauce in a processor and store in a condiment dispenser. Build tacos with lettuce, shrimp, fresh pineapple and green onions.
The photo shows canned pineapple instead of fresh because that’s what I had and you can surely tell the difference in the taste and the color. And it needs to be cut up smaller. And I also learned from making this that using a condiment dispenser is a must when “drizziling” a sauce. Makes a huge difference. And this sauce is soooo good! It and the chili powder on the shrimp is what’s make this taste so delicious! Oh, but I must say, I bought the green salsa but I forgot to add it to the sauce. So if you make the sauce and don’t like it .. make it again without the salsa. 😀 You can tell, if I had a cooking show I’d be the Perfect Imperfect Cook! 😀 And I didn’t add the amount of cilantro to use because it’s not my favorite thing, so I only used a little. So use as much or as little as you like.
