It is officially fall, y’all, and I’m sooo excited! Fall is my favorite time of year. I can’t think of one thing about fall that I don’t like … ok, I don’t like s’mores if that’s something you like to do around a firepit on a cool night. :(~ But that doesn’t mean I can’t wait to do just that with my granddaughter … and I already have the pumpkin cookie dough ready to go!
Because I’m ready to start decorating for fall (and I’ve been buying new additions), I thought I’d share some of my fall decorating pics from past years. Last year, and again this year, I’ve organized a Fall/Halloween neighborhood decorating contest that’s not judged until the end of Oct. So we put out our Halloween decorations at the beginning of Oct., but don’t add the fall stuff until right before the judging even though we can’t win. You can’t leave those pumpkins out too long in the MS heat and sunshine or they’ll rot. And I like for the fall stuff to stay up until Thanksgiving and then it all comes down to be replaced with Christmas decorations. I’m one of those people who don’t like to mix their holidays. NO CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS UP BEFORE THANKSGIVING DINNER IS OVER. 😀
Ok, here’s the pics from last year. Can’t wait to be able to share some from this year when I get my new additions added!
This was my new addition last year. LOVE him!!! Got him on sale at Hobby Lobby. He’s made out of metal and even comes with his own stand. Can’t wait to see him again. 🙂
The sun wasn’t wanting to cooperate with the photo session. Too sunny or not bright enough. My husband made this wagon for me years ago. It was supposed to be small enough to go on my porch! Ha! My neighbor and I have a running joke about how big it is. So yeah, maybe measurement isn’t my strength.
Seeing this makes me itch to get out there and decorate!
This was the first year I used white pumpkins and I liked how they turned out.
I bought the ghost dog and scarecrow years ago at Cracker Barrel. All the kids love that dog and I do, too. They INSIST that he have candy in his jack o’lantern. 🙂
OMG, I almost forgot my mailbox. This was the first year I’d been able to get it done (thanks to my SIL). I definitely have some new ideas to add to it this year. Hope I can get the stalks again.
The next set of photos are from 2013.
This was my new addition for 2013. Love this wreath! It was pricey, but I got it on sale at Hobby Lobby. It was originally priced over $100. I have a new Halloween wreath being made now and I can’t wait to see it.
I like to compare the decorations from one year to the next. Always looking for a way to improve the visual. My husband loves yellow mums and last year they were hardly to be found.
This might be the year I added the scare”crow” as well.
The next photos are from 2009. I couldn’t wait to let my granddaughter, Dakota, help decorate.
Dakota has always been the most precious child. I couldn’t have chosen a better granddaughter. Here she is 2 yrs old. (She’s 8 now)
This wreath I made myself and used it for several years.
Dakota says, “Happy Fall Y’all!” 🙂
This last photo is from 2008. Hope you’ve enjoyed my trip down Memory Lane.
I’m thinking maybe this year, the wagon should go back here … but the bushes are a lot bigger now to maneuver around.
That’s it for today. 2 posts, wow! I’ve been at this computer all day. Reminds me of when I use to spend my summers updating The Virtual Vine.
Later!
