Hallelujah, in some states (mine!!) the pandemic seems to be coming to an end. However, the use of Google Slides™ resources to teach kindergarten and first grade hasn’t diminished. So let’s look at some new Spring Activities for Kindergarten and First Grade using Google Slides™.
Meeting the Needs of Students
Understandably, many schools are still using hybrid models of instruction. I think once everyone has returned fully to the classroom that many teachers will have discovered the usefulness of teaching with Google Slides™ resources among other things, and will not want to let those go. Instead, they’ll want to incorporate those into their toolbox for instruction. And used appropriately, the kids will love the break from standard classroom instruction. We just don’t need to forget that after all the virtual, what they need most now is you … face-to-face time with you! You are the most important thing in that classroom other than those children. So fill those children up with your knowledge and love for learning.
With that being said, these Spring Activities for Kindergarten and First Grade using Google Slides™ are excellent resources for implementing scaffolding and differentiation. And with the unusual teaching models that have been employed, I think scaffolding, differentiation, remediation, and lots of baseline data is going to be needed to see exactly what the needs of many of the students are and how to best meet those needs.
Spring Activities for Kindergarten and First Grade using Google Slides™
Spring ABC Bingo for Google Slides™ contains 10 bingo cards each for capital, lowercase, and both capital and lowercase letters mixed. I like having options for differentiation. At some point, I may even go back and add cards with both capital and lowercase letters together.
The PDF printables include capital and lowercase letter calling cards, letter recognition pages for students to stamp or color the letters (or sounds) they hear and pages to match capital to lowercase (or vise versa) by cutting/gluing, stamping, or writing.
Spring First 25 Sight Words for Google Slides™
Another similar activity is Spring First 25 Sight Words Bingo for Google Slides™. It’s for those new or struggling readers that only need to practice those first 25 most frequently used sight words. And once those words are mastered they can move on to the next set. Or they can be used as differentiation. The First 25 Sight Words Bingo set can be used separately or in conjunction with the next set, which is Spring First 100 Sight Words Bingo for Google Slides™. So in reality, you could have students playing from the two sets of bingo cards and no one would know the difference. Perfect differentiation!

Spring Addition to 5 for Google Slides™
The last activity was an addition activity which was the first addition activity I’ve created for Google Slides™. Even though the year is winding to a close, students can be at all stages of learning development and need lots of skills practice. This activity not only allows them the opportunity to practice their math skills and record and check their answers but if it’s needed they can also use the interactive butterflies as manipulatives to help them count. The different levels of follow-up worksheets allow for differentiation or scaffolding for students. And the cute monsters … I had fun just making this activity!!
