The K-2 Winter glyphs (boy and girl elf, gingerbread house, boy and girl snow people, and best friends) fit perfectly into Christmas, Gingerbread, Winter, Friendship and Valentine’s Units. Use the K-2 Winter glyphs with your class, small groups, or Centers/Stations. Then use the Class Data Representation Questions to discuss the results. If appropriate, the Tally Marks and Data pages can be completed independently or as a group to check for understanding. The glyphs make great activities for hallway or bulletin board displays. They are excellent for training students to LISTEN and follow directions!

Elf Glyph
You can even pair the Elf glyphs with a writing assignment “All I want for Christmas ..” by downloading this free writing paper. (It’s part of a craft, but you only need to print the writing paper)

Gingerbread House Glyph
There are several options available for completing the Gingerbread House glyph. The options range from simple to more complex. This glyph is different from the others in that the students use gingerbread parts to build the scene of the gingerbread house.
Best Friends Glyph
The Best Friends glyph would be great for either a Valentine’s or Friendship unit. Knowing that there are some students who can not participate in holiday celebrations, I created two different formats to use. One can be used for Valentine’s and the other is more generic, but both focus on friendship.

Thanks, Michelle! Sorry it’s taken me this long to reply. For some reason it didn’t let me know this time there was a comment. 🙁 Walker’s going to be so ready when he starts to school with all you do with him! What a lucky little boy!!
